Why is it revealed
Overview
- The Quran is a guidance for the Muslims (16:89)
- The book to warn a people to whom no warner has come before you (32:3. 36:5-6)
- What about Abraham and Isaak, why did they not warn the Arabs when they were there?
- those who were given a portion of the Scripture, they are invited to the Book of Allah, to settle their dispute (3:23-24)
- In Arabic to warn the mother of cities (Mecca) (42:7)
- it is a remembrance for you(Mohammed) and your people(43:44)
- If it had been revealed to any of the non-Arabs => they would not have believed in it (26:198-199)
- He sent it down to the Arabs (without the book) (62:2)

Confirmation of the previous books
- O you who were given the Scripture, believe in what We have sent down [to Muhammad], confirming that which is with you … (4:47)
- He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel (3:3)

- O children of Israel … believe in what I reveal, confirming the revelation which is with you .. (2:40-41)

- Why don’t they judge by the Torah (the judgment of Allah)? (5:43)=> the Torah(the guidance and light ) was sent down … and whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, is a disbeliever (5:44)
- We sent down the Gospel( guidance and light) to confirm the Torah (5:46) => people of the Gospel (Christian) judge by what Allah did send down to them, whoever does not do that is a rebel ((5:46-47)
- confirming the scripture that came before it … => Mohammed has to judge among them by the Quran (5:48)
- ….. and supreme authority on them (Quran over other revelation)
- .. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed (Quran).
- To each of you, We have ordained a code of law and a way of life. If Allah had willed, He would have made you one community, but His Will is to test you with what He has given ˹each of˺ you. So compete with one another in doing good
- To Allah you will all return, then He will inform you ˹of the truth˺ regarding your differences
- believe in Allah and His Messenger and the Book that He sent down upon His Messenger and the Scripture which He sent down before => otherwise is gone astray (4:136)

Quran prophecies in previous books

Abrogation
Challenge to prove that the Quran is the truth
- if you are in doubt => then produce a surah the like thereof (2:23-24)
- No-one (human, jinn) can produce something like the Quran (17:88)
- The Quran comes from Allah = not contradictions in it (4:82)

- Then bring ten surahs like it ((11:13))
- God uses the former scriptures as proofs that the Quran come from him ((20:133)
- Everyone can do that and the former scriptures in the Quran are not perfect
The Quran is clear

In Comparaison with the others revelation
- The Quran is the best revelation (39:55)
- Why? What is so particular?
About other revelation
- The Scripture was only sent down to two groups before the Muslims ((6:156))
- Only to 2 groups of people (Jews, Christians) not to all nations
Proofs the Quran with the other old scriptures
- Why not miracles => the Quran with the former scriptures in it is enough (20:133)?
- It is not enough, everyone can do that, it is an excuse because he can not do miracles
