Why is it revealed

Overview

  • The Quran is a guidance for the Muslims (16:89)
  • The book to warn a people to whom no warner has come before you (32:3. 36:5-6)
    • What about Abraham and Isaak, why did they not warn the Arabs when they were there?
  • those who were given a portion of the Scripture, they are invited to the Book of Allah, to settle their dispute (3:23-24)

Confirmation of the previous books

    • To Allah you will all return, then He will inform you ˹of the truth˺ regarding your differences

Quran prophecies in previous books

Challenge to prove that the Quran is the truth

  • if you are in doubt   => then produce a surah the like thereof (2:23-24)
  • No-one  (human, jinn) can produce something like the Quran (17:88)
  • The Quran comes from Allah = not contradictions in it (4:82)

  • Then bring ten surahs like it ((11:13))
  • God uses the former scriptures as proofs that the Quran come from him ((20:133)
    • Everyone can do that and the former scriptures in the Quran are not perfect

    • Why? What is so particular?

About other revelation

  • The Scripture was only sent down to two groups before the Muslims ((6:156))
    • Only to 2 groups of people (Jews, Christians) not to all nations

Proofs the Quran with the other old scriptures

  • Why not miracles => the Quran with the former scriptures in it is enough (20:133)?
    • It is not enough, everyone can do that, it is an excuse because he can not do miracles
